Salon Brand Culture and image.

Salon Brand culture and image. A topic that is always of great interest to me. The ethic’s of a salon the brand and culture are the life blood the of the  salon its DNA if you like. From time to time I think we all need to consider the importance of discipline taking responsibility and being accountable all things that we personally hold very dear. Knowing that in taking action we have to take responsibility and indeed live with the consequences of our choices and decisions. Having respect and showing respect these are the very foundation stones of having and running a successful business.

We develop our salon from our vision we strive to create our own brand and over time a salon culture develops that reflects this. This develops from leadership mutual respect having a collaborative team vision with shared values. Part of this also includes the brands we associate our salon with the brand our team are happy to endorse and promote. I don’t normally promote products but the header picture is of a new bespoke brand that i am happy to share with you all. Information and links at the bottom of the page.

Many of  us often elude to the principle that is so very key “Accountability” But how many take action or install it into there business or daily routine? Many of us these days are oh so ready to point the finger of blame be it on a product not working correctly. A colleagues actions. We all have to take a look in the mirror and do a little personal soul searching and take responsibility for our selves. This can be our appearance it might be our client retention figures maybe its our pay packet. We are all responsible to ourselves for ourselves and yet we also have as greater responsibility to the salon our team mates.

I do believe that we are all responsible for our action and choices and so accountable. This being the case should discipline be Instilled into the salon culture through salon policy! This being a frame work outlining guide lines and expectation of team members, whilst at the same time encouraging personal accountability through self discipline leading to salon harmony and respect reflected in the culture and brand.

We also have to set an example to others. To those who are new to the salon and industry,we have to show a professional image to our clients. We are ambassadors for our selves but also the salon we are working in and are a part of. We represent the Brand and help create the culture and so reflect the image. Its a collaborative approach to being part of a team. It’s about being professional its about being big enough to know that we are just part of the “Salon team”.You might think this odd but it’s better to be part of something bigger than you or me than think we are bigger than it “It being the salon”. We are not all going to be a celebrities and would rather have a salon of stylist of great ability across the team  than one with one supper star calling the shots!

Any salon would function so much better for all when. Collaboration exists mutual respect flows in all direction. Ego is left at the door and creativity flourishes. Shared ‘Vision’ and goals. Mentoring and sharing of skills knowledge and experience. This all adds enhance the work environment and reflects in who we treat others relate to our clients and gain greater respect and understanding  of what being a professional hair stylist is what being successful is. What servicing our client means !

Being part of a salon team representing its Brand and culture reflecting its image make us all part of something that is bigger and better than we can ever be alone! A Team Member !

Are you driver or passenger !

There are no guarantees in life and ones career and career choice is no different thing happen and its how we deal with them that defines us. Jobs change relationships come and go the one thing that remains after training is our skill both hands on creative and the ones we learn about people and communication about caring about being a team player. Constantly developing new skills staying current is so very important.

I also think that we need to always look at the Why. Ask the question Why are we in business whats it for? OrWhy do we want to go into to business what is success? Why do I suggest this I think by asking and exploring the why we get to the motive behind why we want to be in business what is true success. Why the will also help us to understand our true values this in turn helps us to follow the path to the success we want  and desire. It will help us to surround ourselves with the right team those who share our values and vision.

Remember. Salon success. Stylist success. Business success are all linked together it’s Team success. Its never about any destination only ever about a journey taking the right people on that journey makes it enjoyable maybe even fun!
