The salon The Spa.Marketing

Our business our salon. The place  that started with a vision and now we have developed it to offer. Service and excellence by our highly skilled caring team. A team that shares our vision and represents our brand  so …

When we think about Marketing what comes to mind with you how much of a role does it play in your business planning and strategy making?

We all know how important branding is creating that unique atmosphere that is you salon and so is your brand. Over time we create a salon culture we develop a team that shares our vision and so embraces the culture that the salon reflects. Marketing is not just placing an add in the local paper or having a like button on Facebook on just hoping the odd text or just using social media will change things in your business. Marketing is a reflection of all that you do, its the DNA of your business and your salon your brand the image and culture.

The trust and  respect you develop with both your team and your clients.
Market does encompass and effect the salon at all levels. However I also feel that developing team that share the salon vision values and ethos is equally important .That encouraging collaboration communication and have an open door when it comes to listening to innovative new idea’s lead by example but empower your team to influence the marketing strategy and as a final comment. Its so easy for any of us to think about our business the challenges the right choice to make It’s those who chose to take ‘ACTION’ implement a marketing strategy, embrace change. Get help that you need to really succeed and take you business forward. The salon and business should strive to have a strong brand and identity and if not this needs to we worked on with all the team as Brand and culture are the salon identity they say this Welcome this is us.

When considering marketing we should also consider our Target market. Who are we catering for what we are offering and of course always the demographics of those we want to attract and work with. Ask your self? Do we want to specialise or have staff that offer specialist services if so how do we market and promote this within the salon. Consider this With out an idea of this how can you fix a pricing point that your client or potential clients can afford or will be happy to pay ? This leads to pricing, how do you decide on what you want to charge in your salon for the services you offer. Again who are you catering for? What is your ? “Target market” You can never cater for every one in the service you offer or the price point you are working from so consider who will what you offer attract or how will you attract the market you want.

Marketing directly reflects the choices you make the services you offer the team you build and develop. It reflects in every aspect of your business your salon from Pricing to Sales to profitability all linked.

It looks at  Pricing and sales it addresses why we find it so hard to face the prospect of having price increases it address the impact not staying in pace with inflation can have on the salon and the team. Yes all of this is still related to marketing Why ! We have our target market we have researched our business we researched  the type of client we want to attract and carter for this includes understanding what those clients can afford and would be willing to pay for the  service you provide. Those same clients are aware of inflation and the cost of running a business. What these clients want what they come to you for is exceptional service delivered by highly skilled caring professional. End of story  its not the money the cost its the service and the the way you deliver the product in our industry we are the product !

Marketing NEVER sleeps! Remember this.

Every single thing you do (and don’t do) either adds to or takes away from your brand. And I mean EVERYTHING. (Including the bitching on facebook by one of the team – or worse still – you!)

LOVE your brand and what you stand be consistent in everything you do.

The ‘Three R’s’
”Reputation. Recommendation. Retention”.
It’s not built on that constant looking for new clients it’s looking after what you have! It’s investing in your self and your business and those around you.
