High lift blonde hair colour

For many stylist there are challenges or concerns when using High lift Blonde hair colour. Many stylist still question whether it will deliver enough lift and pigment control to reach the desired shade and tone.

It is my intention in a couple of weeks to colour someones hair who has always had high lights and never had full head colour.IMG_8905

To prepare for this I have taken a small swatch/strand of hair so I can get an idea of what shade and tone I might get on the never before coloured underneath of this head its a natural level 6 so its asking quite a lot from a high lift colour to give a nice controlled shade my hope would be a “Beige blonde”.

My fear would be not enough lift from the formulation not enough pigment to control any unwanted warmth or brassy tones,

The pic to the left is the head showing the un-coloured level 6 hair on the underneath of the head the light blonde pieces seen are just extension added for the up do.

As stated a small sample pice of hair was taken with permission to pre colour and see what I might be able to achieve. {see pic above}

IMG_4389 Next the hair was saturated with colour and left to process in a highlight paper {not foil].

The mid lengths and ends had colour applied first and then after 20 minutes more colour was added to full length including what would have been the root area. This was then left to processor 50 minutes in the paper without heat.

I only opened the paper to take this one pic of application!

After 50 minutes the products was rinsed off lightly washed conditioned and dried

This picture is not taken without a flash or added lighting just over head light that would represent any salon lighting I was really happy with this shade reached. Its certainly gives scope for a full head application and attaining a level that will look natural and controlled.

I used AlterEgo Italy Be Blonde Pure Diamond lift HL1 this has an ash base to control unwanted orange yellow tones that I knew we would encounter when lifting from a level 6. For more on High lift Blonde our diamond lift click here

Also once the full head is ready for the colour service I will post full blog here is  a link to some thoughts on Lightening bleaching & toning using Alterego Italy products.

More on this as I want to share honestly the process and final look and colour attained  in the hopes that it addresses some of the fears associated with high lift blonde shades
